When did you first get involved with Heybo Outdoors?
Summer of 2018
What is your favorite hobby when you’re not pursuing your outdoor passions?
Worshipping the Lord. Whether it is in a church service or having a time of fellowship with my church family just hanging out. Anytime spent with Jesus is a good time.
What is your favorite category in the Heybo line?
The outerwear. I am a sucker for jackets/hoodies and Heybo has done a fantastic job of making multiple different jackets that are comfortable and practical for hunting or just wearing out.
How would you spend your dream day?
I am a very simple guy. I would probably wake up early to go chase some ducks and/or geese. Then I would head back and spend the rest of my day with my wife, drinking coffee, reading the Bible, and enjoying a day not having anything to do or anywhere to be.
My name is Jake Riley. I am 27 years old and I am a retriever trainer from Bowling Green, KY. I have loved gun dogs for as long as I can remember, so in 2017 I decided to start my own retrieving training business, Riley’s Retrievers. I grew up hunting quail and working with my father's pointers. When I got a new job I became very good friends with a long time duck hunter who took me to an Arkansas rice field for the first time. As I watched a mutual friend's 12 year old, gray faced chocolate lab named Chief bring back my first goose I have been hooked ever since. I helped him train his new pup the next year where he needed it and the obsession just grew deeper. Since then I have trained my first chocolate lab, Moose, who I believe has taught me more than I have him. Over the past 8 years I have learned as much as possible about training retrievers through trial and error, videos, books, and other dog owners experiences. Hunting and working with dogs is my true passion, and I truly love to helping dog owners produce the best retriever and companion possible.
